One Way to Practice

The normal silence on the school-ground was today broken by a quite unusual sound; a loud clacking, as if someone was hitting a rock against a quite hard surface made of metal mixed with wood. The one guilty was a young Gryffindor-girl, who had taken the cloudy day as a perfect reason to borrow two of the school’s bludgers and release them far away from the school so they wouldn’t attack people walking out. Swinging her bat as the cannonball-like things time and time again tried to attack her she stood steady on the ground, only her heavy breathing revealing how long she had kept this up now. But she was getting better, she noted quite pleased. Today she was only getting better at aiming, and one had to change the setting in some way. Not being on a broom was both easier and harder; she was steadier, but couldn’t escape as easy and fast…

But as she once again let the bat meet the ball and send it straight into a tree in the Forbidden Forest, grinning as she hit the target, she could only hope she’d make it on the team and b able to keep her place this year…

"So that's where the bludgers disappered ta." Remarked Ares as he approached the Gryffindor girl. Hearing a whizzing of a bludger, he instinctively ducked and avoided being tackled/attacked by it from behind. "Tch, ya gotta talk wit' Madam Magus 'bout practicin' wit' these things, ya know." He crossed his arms, being strangely observant of the rules (or maybe he was just pissed he couldn't use the bludgers for the Slytherin team practice, go figure).

"So far she only told me to not let them attack other people. There's no chance they'll disappear, they attack humans and the closest one is right here."

with a quite happy grin she swinged the bat again, sending the second bludger straight after the first one

Ares snorted, "Pft, fine... But it's selfish keepin' 'em to yerself. House teams gotta practice wit' 'em too, ya know?" He forgot to mention that there were at least about ten other bludgers in reserve in case one or both bludgers were destroyed during a match, but he had to make a point somehow.

"If you're so lazy that you can't even walk over to the storage and get a pair of your own you've got nothing to do in a Quidditch-team."

She even gave herself time to poke him in the stomach with the bat before going back to focus on the flying balls, this time sending them out over the lake

He growled and grabbed the top part of her bat with a hand, "Ya got guts ta say tha' ta me." Having said that, he let go and smirked, "Can't wait for the Slytherin-Gryffindor match, ya can't beat our team this year.

"Brag after the game, if you've got any reasons to then."
getting her foot up in a quick but precise kick she used it to give him yet another push; if they didn't want to get hit when those canonballs came back she needed him to let got of the bat. But ask him? That was just the way idiots treated other idiots, being that obvious...

Ares took the kick, and let go of the bat, stepping back with a raised eyebrow in surprise, "Yeah yeah." He paused, noting, "Girls don't usual kick like that, liftin' up their skirts a bit or somethin'."

Swinging the bat, getting a sharp whack when it hit the ball, sending it straight back where it came from Freya then glanced at him
"Quite stupid if you ask me; it's the best way to aim right. I've got nothing to hide that you didn't know would be there to begin with, so why bother?"

He laughed, "Haven't heard it said like tha' before!"

"Truth, isn't it?"
but rather than talk to him she faced the second bludger as it came back once more. But she was getting tired; how long had she been out here now? An hour? But she still swinged the bat, seding it off into a new angle, not really aiming at anything anymore

He snorted, eyes narrowing a bit when he noticed the bludger launched back to the sky, "Ya need a break? Ya been out here fer a while, haven't ya?"

"No. I'll never get better if I just quit whenver I get tired..."
taking a better grip of the bat she held her breath as she sent one of the balls towards the forest and the other straight up into the air

"But thanks for the offer. I'll pick up on it when I'm gonna clean those two away."

"Hey, there's a difference from quittin' when ya can and restin' when ya need ta."

Gage watched the two. He had dressed up for some quidditch practice.

He raised a brow. "What are you two arguing about?"

"That guy wanting the bat even though I can still stand!"
Freya didn't even look at the boy, too busy keeping the two bludgers away from herself, but she knew that her saying of 'can still stand' wouldn't really last much longer, she could barely breathe!

"I don't want the bat. I'm sayin' ya need ta take a break." Ares looked at the girl in disbelief, didn't she know the importance of resting?

mumbling something about not being weak Freya then took a deep breath and held it while using all energy she had left to give the next bludger a real good his, the whack of the bat echoing across the grounds and making the ball break a branch on a tree at the border of the forest. That should give her enough time to catch the other one without getting hit...
